A New Captivating, Delight Awaits Your Tastebuds
Nestled in a shopping center on Scottsdale Road and Acoma, a hidden gem of a restaurant has emerged aptly named Hush. I love telling people about what to do in Scottsdale, where to go, what to try when you’re at a restaurant or what you must see, but I almost want to keep Hush Public House a secret.
The Welcoming Vibe
When you walk into Hush you’re immediately energized. The vibe, the energy, the music, the enthusiasm, the kitchen, the bar, the amazing aromas, it all hits you in a way that ensures you that you’re going to have a fabulous time. And, chances are, you will end up with a new favorite restaurant too! What I really love is that it is an open kitchen. I mean, besides teppanyaki when else do you get to watch the kitchen gods create their magic?
Locally Owned and Locally Sourced
It’s important to note that the owners are local. This isn’t some corporate chain. Dominic Ruggiero and Charles Barber, Jr are the owners and they’re involved in everything, making sure it’s all perfect. They’re also relying on local places for food, on the menu was fish from Chula’s Seafood and bread from Noble Bread.
So Many Wonderful Choices
The menu is downright captivating. How do you choose between grilled blue point oysters, crab hush puppies and chicken liver mousse for an appetizer? The answer is no one should have to make these decisions! Order them all. The halibut crudo with local citrus, pickled chilies and marinated fennel is certainly one of the most photogenic items on the menu so get ready for the Gram!
Absolutely Heavenly Butcher’s Country Pate
The butcher’s country pate was just absolutely amazing and if you even think you might like it, you must order it. They grilled some of that fantastic Noble bread for you and make their own mustard. That’s right, they make their own mustard WITH BEER. It takes a month but it’s worth the wait. The veggies that are served with are pickled in tumeric for a really beautiful plate.
Bacon? Salumi? Baby Turnips? It’s Here!
The grilled double cut meat market bacon is also pretty photo worthy as is the salumi board which also has a mustard made in-house but that mustard is actually paired with pear! There were so many great menu choices but what got me was the turnips. Roasted baby turnips (who knew!), garlic butter, crispy shallots, pesto with a sherry vinegar were prepared perfectly. Not being a turnip fan I was shocked that turnips could taste so delicious.
The Food Is Intoxicating
Speaking of intoxication, besides having a great wine list which I bet Charles had a lot of to with after his time behind the bar at Zinc Bistro, Hush Public House also has a great list of speciality cocktails to choose from.
Hooray For Hush!
As a foodie, this place makes me wanna cheer because it’s just the kind of place you want to see succeed. Grilled swordfish, pan seared scallops with an amazing olive tampenade, roasted Jidori chicken, NY strip, spaghetti and the list goes on. There’s something for everyone and it’s all savory, tempting deliciousness.
Just Go For Dessert
Both desserts were amazing. The chocolate budino with the fresh whipped cream and just the right amount of EVOO and sea salt was stupendous. But the date cake with bourbon toffee sauce and vanilla gelato is outstanding! Try them both!
Rush To Hush!
The question is not if you should check out Hush Public House but when are you going and how many people are you bringing with you? This spot is going to be opening for Sunday brunch too so put that on your calendar. This place is a must-try. Good luck guys!
