How Foodies Happy  Hour In Style

Do you think of sticky bars, flat beer and microwaved truck stop-style food when you think of happy hour? Allow let me to save you from the madness.  With my good friend fellow food blogger and Instagram influencer Marci in tow, we hit four HHs in a row on a Tuesday afternoon only ordering off the happy hour menu. Every place we visited we each ordered one drink and one food item from the happy hour menu.

High Street Is Many Things

The wonderful thing about High Street is that there’s so much to do.  Located in North Phoenix near North Scottsdale, people have also referred to this area as Desert Ridge East or City North. The map on the right shows the Scottsdale city limits.  The green arrow shows where High Street is, the yellow star is the Kierland Commons and Scottsdale Quarter shopping centers which are home to more than 2 dozen restaurants.  Sometimes restaurants close before you’re ready to go home which is where High Street comes in because the bars are open til 2a.  The red arrow at the bottom of Scottsdale is Old Town Scottsdale where most people go for nightlife.

What We Ordered At Nori

For drinks, we had an Asahi beer and small hot sake and a glass of wine.  For food, we picked shrimp tempura and negihama maki which is yellowtail sushi with scallion. Awesome Austin the bartender was very helpful and the service was great.  Total bill: $21.72! Remember when tipping, tip on non-happy hour prices to be kind to your bartenders.  Happy Hour Every Day 3p-6p

Humble Bistro Happy Hour

This spot is so fucking cozy! You have to go to Humble Bistro.  From the fresh flowers on the tables to the lounge-vibe wall art, this place is full of positive vibes. If you’re familiar with Humble Pie, this is one of their restaurants.  Jaxon the bartender was very helpful and recommended the Frose with is basically an adult slurpee plus it’s pretty.

Elevate Your Happy Hour

If you’re looking for a great place to meet your new Tinder/Hinge/Bumble date that’s probably not going to show up anyway, this is the perfect place to do it.  Why?  Upbeat ambiance will keep you feeling happy and the service is great.  Plus if you’re sitting for a while the barstools have cushions, which is a nice addition.

What Does Ambiance Cost?

There are 6 food items for Happy Hour is $6 until 6pm each day.  According to our informal survey, the most popular menu items are the 3-Ball meatballs and jalapeno hummus; so that’s what we ordered. Our total bill was $25.55!

Ocean Prime Has Happy Hour

For being in the desert, there are a lot of restaurants with the word ocean in it so we stopped by Ocean Prime, not to be confused with the Ocean Club at Kierland or one of my favorite restaurants Ocean 44.  Their happy hour provides half prices appetizers and a couple of drink specials.  It’s an upscale restaurant with the ambiance to match. This is a great place for a craft cocktail and the Berries & Bubbles comes out with dry ice. Happy Hour Monday-Saturday 4:30-6pm. Our bill was $40.72, the highest of the day but still a deal.

Mellow Mushroom Is A Must

No happy hour tour of High Street would be complete without Mellow Mushroom. Why is that? Because Mellow Mushroom has two! The regular happy hour everyday 3p-6p but they also have a reverse happy hour every night from 10p-2a. The appetizers are half price and the meatballs are amazing. I like the pretzel bites plain but they usually come with garlic butter. I get them plain to dip in those meatballs. Mellow is also one of the cheapest places for happy hour on High Street and our total bill came to $18.73!

And That’s Not All…..

While this gives you a pretty good idea of places to go on High Street, there’s plenty of other options.  High Street doesn’t just have restaurants, there are also boutiques, a Sprouts Express and salons.  From October to May, you also can go visit the High Street Farmer’s Market and support our local vendors.  If you’re lucky you might even find some duck eggs.
